Indian Premier League (IPL) is a US $ 2 Billion Brand

Just 2-year old IPL baby is already worth over US $ 2 Billion. According to UK-based brand valuation consultancy ‘Brand Finance’, IPL’s Brand Value is over US $ 2 Billion.

The IPL Brand alone has a value of over US $ 312 Million, according to Brand Finance report. IPL has generated huge economic value for both its owner, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and the 8 team franchisees.

And it has set the stage for the franchisees to list their teams on the stock market. According to Unni Krishnan, MD of Brand Finance, “The ultimate proof of the success of IPL Brand System will come when the franchises decide to list their teams. This is a real possibility at least in the next 2-3 years.”

“The Example of the English Premiere League football teams, a number of which are listed, is there to follow” – He added.

The Most valued IPL Team is ‘Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)’, which is languishing at the bottom of the table in the second edition of IPL, currently going on in South Africa has a Brand Value of US $ 42.1 Million.
Yes, this is true. The worst performing KKR Team has a Highest Brand Value.

Team Standings 5th May 2009

This is exciting, every day, this standing table is changing twice. I believe this is the most entertaining, volatile standings table in the world.

Deccans and Delhi were dominating the tournament from the beginning, Royal Challengers were having a blunt start. Rajastan Royals were not looking in the wining spree in the first week. Super Kings were out of touch. But now, after 2 weeks have rolled, the positions are far too different. Kolkata keeps its position, SRK booked only a one-way ticket. Punjab, sprang to the top. Bangalore made its way in the contest, Kumble seems to be happier. Chennia, they are fight hard to get into the top 4. Mumbai - Hmmm.. after 2 losses, their fortune changed. But believe in Sachin and his boys, they gonna come up strongly. Raj Royal, they are the second last, but may shoot up any time.
